BEV talks to Debs Gardener-Paterson
Birds Eye View were lucky enough to bag an exclusive interview with the director of Africa United, Debs Gardener-Paterson, following its premiere at the prestigious 54th London Film Festival. We talked to her about the film, the issues of filming in Africa, whether she finds it challenging working as a woman in a male dominated industry, and making the leap from directing shorts to feature length films.
Africa United tells the extraordinary story of three Rwandan children and their bid to achieve their ultimate dream – to take part in the opening ceremony of the 2010 Football World Cup in Johannesburg. Africa United is out Friday 22nd October. Show your support for Gardener-Paterson and women filmmakers by going to see the film in the opening weekend.
